GLASS FIBER news

As is well known, carbon fiber and aramid fiber (also known as Kevlar fiber) are well-known high-performance fibers widely used in aerospace equipment in advanced countries around the world.

Tang Changhong, the chief designer of Yun-20, once mentioned in a public speech that "(carbon fiber) composite materials are still a major obstacle for large aircraft. If this problem still cannot be broken through, the use of it in our large aircraft is just a sign."

In fact, there is a high-performance fiber that has not only been used in large aircraft, but also widely used in six major military departments and key weapon models such as aerospace, aviation, weapons, ships, electronics, and nuclear industry - that is, high-performance glass fiber developed in China.

Glass fiber is an inorganic non-metallic material with excellent performance. The advantages of glass fiber are good insulation, strong heat resistance, good corrosion resistance, and high mechanical strength. Its disadvantages are brittleness and poor wear resistance.

Glass fiber is a product made from six types of ores, including pyrophyllite, quartz sand, limestone, dolomite, boron calcium stone, and boron magnesium stone, through high-temperature melting, drawing, winding, weaving, and other processes. The diameter of its single filament ranges from a few microns to over twenty microns, equivalent to 1/20 to 1/5 of a hair thread. Glass fiber is commonly used as a reinforcing material in composite materials, electrical insulation materials, thermal insulation materials, etc.
